Full Moon in Capricorn

The Full Moon in Capricorn on 30 June invites us to be unapologetically tenacious in pursuit of our dreams and ambitions, and to get organised and set clear boundaries with ourselves and others in order to live life to the fullest. Now is a good time to put pen to paper and get clear on the goals you have already been working towards and the goals you want to set. Also make note of the wins and progress you have made as well as any setbacks, lessons learned or goals you may have been neglecting. Capricorn can skew towards the negative, so make sure you congratulate yourself on any progress or achievements, even if you think they seem small. Don’t forget to applaud yourself for how you have handled any setbacks or obstacles; even if you think you could have done better, remind yourself that you are human and did the best you could in the circumstances at that moment in time. Cast an objective eye over any areas that have room for improvement while keeping tabs on your inner critic so as not to let any constructive criticism tip over into self-doubt or being too hard on yourself. Check in with any self-limiting beliefs you have (these may stem from your own fears, or from other people or societal norms) and try to counteract them with positivity and compassion. It’s hard to flourish if you’re your own biggest critic!

It could also be helpful to take stock of any areas where you need to be firmer in your boundaries, either with yourself or with others. Do you spend too much time on activities that drain your energy, or do you prioritise day-to-day activities over working towards your goals? Remind yourself that your energy is a precious resource worth protecting, and that you deserve to work towards the things that matter to you. Do you overextend yourself for others or well-meaningly find yourself micromanaging? Take a step back and remember that allowing other people to take responsibility and make their own mistakes can be the kinder thing to do, because you are allowing them to learn and grow and assert their own agency.

Mercury has also just stationed retrograde in Capricorn’s opposing sign of Cancer (where the Sun is currently). Mercury being retrograde (i.e. appearing to move backwards) in nostalgic Cancer may mean we find ourselves dwelling on the past, which could feel confusing when paired with grounded but future-focused Capricorn. Remember that there is room to reflect on the past, present and future in a well-rounded life, and hold yourself with compassion as you navigate any seemingly contradictory feelings. Taking time to journal or engaging in mindful activities such as yoga or meditation could help if this feels overwhelming. You could also use positive memories of the past or lessons you have learned to light the way for your path forward.

We often need to be more vigilant concerning the practicalities of life during Mercury retrograde, and the Full Moon in Capricorn will be sure to give you a helping hand with making sure these things are in order–Capricorn loves to organise. Use this practical, grounded lunation to give you a firm foundation from which to move boldly towards your goals and dreams; with the strong-willed Goat at your side, you will be sure to make purposeful steps towards what matters to you the most.
